Friends to not-lovers, The Request LOL. For the Behrad/Nate request, I'm looking for "the timeline is stable bc everything is the same except Zari Tomaz is replaced by Behrad Tarazi" angst. If everything is the same, why didnt you fall in love with Behrad, Nate?? A rewrite of Nate/Zari moments where Behrad is pining and Nate just doesnt feel the same way? The egg mission? The time loop? For the Astra/Spooner request, what I like about this ship is how Astra never really quite fits in with the Legends, but she is sooo tight with Spooner. Anything about their usual dynamic with the added layer of Astra knowing Spooner would never want her back would be interesting to me! Or maybe Astra on her Redemption Arc Bullshit resisting the urge to evil scheme Spooner into being hers, or quiet moments on their Prohibition road trip where she appreciates Spooner for what she is...

I love the characters in this movie. Doug makes everyone around him better. He's so earnest, simple, and kind. Meanwhile, Xavier and Ross are great foils. Xavier, who has squandered so much talent, is lost for so long until he's saved by the power of friendship. Ross fills our role of antagonist, but there's a deep bitterness there that Doug manages to heal—first, by providing Ross the words/sentiment by which to frame his career (which would have been a sour moment of plagiarism in any other movie), and second, when Doug gives him the no-holds-barred fight he wanted to end his career with).

However, a story where L rejects Corbeau outright could be fun, too.

What I'm looking for the most in this request is something that explores both L's identity issues relating to his past as Lysandre, and Augustine's grief and loss, both upon first losing Lysandre and upon finding out that Lysandre is now L and doesn't remember who he was. Oh to be a dog yearning for its owner... Although I'm usually more on the "Tachibana has some kind of feelings for Oda" side, it being fully unrequited is also good... I'd like for Tachibana to have some fondness, but never really return the intensity of Oda's devotion. Unbalanced loyalty is the best!!! Their relationship is already so messy in canon, it's not very difficult to extrapolate even more messiness lol. Tachibana using Oda while Oda lets him is my favorite. There's a lot to say about how Tachibana uses other people, I think, but the most delicious part of Tachibana/Oda for me is that Oda is 100% on board with it. Not just because of the guilt about his past actions, but also just because he adores Tachibana that much. Feel free to torment Oda as much as you want. I want this underlying his life even while joining the expedition improves things for him in a friends, colleagues, and self-worth kind of way--so that he's no longer alone in reassignment exile waiting out his time, but there's still something fundamentally alone about him, even while he's at the center of all these connections he's learning he's good at making again.

I'd like that desolate isolation to find a locus in his feelings about his friend Rodney McKay. I don't care what kind of attraction John has for him, I just want him to deny himself or believe that he can't have it, and I'd love him to try to keep it to himself, for his own sake, for Rodney's, because of the rules, conflict of interest, even for the greater good of the team, the mission, the expedition (slip-ups, obviousness, other people seeing totally allowed). He can be anything from messed up about it to more or less sanguine, though I'd prefer that he's practiced at this kind of thing, whether he's any good at dealing with it on the inside.

Maybe it's just a day in the life (calm or adventurous; Pegasus or Earthside), maybe one of them is in danger, maybe they're separated, maybe they're stuck together, maybe some outside force throws them together in a way that makes it really hard for John or even brings it all out excruciatingly.

John trying an arrangement with someone else during this is fine. If it's m/m or in his chain of command, I'd prefer it to be someone not from Earth--or for him to be also messed up about that. (Bonus opt-in: John full of unrequited feelings for Teyla & Ronon too and trying to let them all live their lives, while he stands alone...) As for Rodney? He could be alone or in a canon or non-canon ship (normal canon-wise, I like Katie Brown, but for this purpose, any goes). He could also be oblivious or aware of John's feelings at any point; I've requested any of the unrequitedness combinations, so it's also ok if either's only interested in sex or romance but not both--though even in any of those versions, I'd like John's concerns about it being a bad idea both publicly and privately to be an issue, even if he goes along with it because he wants Rodney so much. Nardole is so stalwart and so long-sufferingly loyal, and while he's perfectly capable of being stern and calling the Doctor to task and being the Doctor's keeper (the keeper's keeper), he puts up with it all for a long, long time and supports him and acts tenderly towards him when the moment calls for it. I love that Nardole acts subordinate and the Doctor all bossy (which seems to be both natural to them and a specific choice) but keeps him in line--and even with all the majordomo/batman trappings, or maybe because of them, they're closer to equal than most of the Doctor's relationships--and he's funny and charming and potters about and drops cogs or servos or whatever it is sometimes and is a badass and has his own foibles that he's put aside for this, and they both acknowledge that he is stronger for the long-haul and how much the Doctor, for all his brilliance, needs him.

I love the idea of Nardole quietly nursing stronger feelings for the Doctor, which the Doctor might or might not know about (I could easily see the Doctor not getting it, but I could equally see him ignoring it or being surprisingly discreetly kind about it once he did figure it out or if Nardole let on), but which he simply cannot return. (My favorite headcanon is that he only reciprocates for the Master, even if he wants and tries to do otherwise, but you don't have to include this, though I would like Missy to be at least as important to Twelve as she is in canon.)

For this request, I'd especially like to see both characters appear. There are seventy years of lonely vault-guarding you could work with, or anything set in s10, at the solar farm, or if you have a canon-divergence around the s10 plot, that'd work for me too!

I always love stories in which they're lonely and isolated and there's only so many in the community, but duty and the good of the working environment means that no one having feelings up and down the rank grades must express it. I could see this going either way with unrequited Paris for Janeway or Janeway for Paris, the rapport between them going "too far" for one of them, and oops, they've got to hide those feelings.

I think Tom, early on, having an infatuation for the woman who gives him a second chance to save himself from his own mistakes, and constantly expects the best of him, and devoting himself to being supportive and living up to his potential and what she sees in him, makes sense. And I love when it gets complicated with things like asking him to pretend to slide into bad habits again, or when he really does go against her orders.

I could see these feelings just being there, in the background, even canon-compliantly. Possibly strong at first, but then maybe they fade to a mild thing that doesn't interfere with his life? Or maybe it does, and he struggles with it even as he tries to live his life (whether canon-compliantly or divergently). Maybe he lets it slip and maybe it's clear they're real or he's able to play it off as a crush, or maybe he's able to hide it in charm and his real efforts to be a productive member of his community (and to be good for Janeway, specifically).

Janeway developing feelings and going no this is absolutely not allowed and struggling not to even let a glimpse of it become apparent (to anybody but especially to Tom) would be delightfully excruciating. She denies herself so much! Not being able to talk to anybody about this. Trying not to let it interfere, socially or in command situations. Watching Tom develop his life and genuinely happy for how well he does but also helplessly regretful, probably annoyed at herself for those little twinges. Getting angry at him when he disappoints her! Angry at herself for how much it matters!

Peril situations are great for these two, and having to make difficult decisions (for Janeway especially); doubting themselves, having trouble trusting themselves... If feelings do get revealed, it could be so awkward--would it be a shock/surprise or not?--yet in an unrequited situation I could see the one who doesn't return the feelings being so gentle and careful with the other, out of respect and genuine caring.

Basically, I'd like more of Lord Peter unshakably interested in Harriet Vane, and Harriet in a moment in her life in which there's just no way she can reciprocate. Canon resolves it, but feel free to diverge or just pretend you haven't gotten to that part yet or ever will.

I love Harriet's side of it: she's so real, so complicated, and it makes all the sense that given the situation, both in herself, having had this very bad relationship experience that defines so much of her life, and in the way Peter is mixed up in extricating her from its consequences and entangled in her thoughts and feelings about all of it, she has far too much to work through for herself to have any room for wanting another relationship, especially with Peter, who would kind of own her. I love seeing her grapple with that, and feel suffocated (her independence and her need for it), but gradually heal and work through it all. To me this reason for the unrequitedness is just as important as the attraction. I could easily see it having gone the other way, her growth and healing leading her to a place where she still did not reciprocate his feelings, especially the romantic ones, but without rancor. (Maybe they could even make a life like this.)

Meanwhile, I love Lord Peter suffering and the way he suffers. His stoicism, dignity, and carefully not showing/imposing his hurts too much--at least, after his initial presumption when they first meet. He's better about keeping it to himself when he gets physically whumped, and it's gorgeous whenever he slips or it's just too much and he has to reveal himself a bit, e.g. when he's got cracked ribs and takes Harriet to dinner anyway, and only admits it when he has to explain why he can't pick up her dropped bag for her. But I also love his emotional defenses that come down so often and are almost always down (though most people don't ever realize it; Harriet, of course, does, and Bunter presumably knows everything possible and not possible to know about him). For the unrequited feelings, I love the subsequent conversation, when he sees the hate mail she's been getting, in part because of him, and he asks why she didn't tell him, and she says she didn't want to hurt him, and he goes so far as to speak with italics: ‘Didn’t want to hurt me?’...because they both know his unrequited feelings have been hurting him for years by this point. (And they could both just...stop seeing each other, but they don't, and I think that could also be nuanced and fascinating.)

So, I just want to roll around in this whole situation, and their complicated selves and feelings. I'd be equally interested in fic set during when this is all happening in-canon or a canon-divergence in which it goes on for years more, whether in the same way or if they mature into some sort of equanimity and acceptance of it.

Caldwell: Giving Caldwell feelings of some sort for Sheppard just adds such a note to their canonical interactions--not only did he think he was going to and then didn't get Sheppard's job and become his CO, but he's inappropriately attracted to him! (At least this way they're not in a chain of command?) And he doesn't get to have that either, not even reciprocated but un-acted-on! And every time he clashes with him, has to rescue him, faces the disapprobation of Sheppard's allies over some decision he disagreed with, it's with the added frustration of his frustration and the awareness that he isn't not on Sheppard's side. Except, well, sometimes he is, because Sheppard makes questionable decisions, and also because sometimes he is just so aggravating.

Does he even like Sheppard? Maybe sometimes he's not so sure. If you want to have them go for some bad idea sex that makes this even worse for them both, go for it. They could also have known each other pre-canon in whatever way you like.

Ronon: Ronon's got this fascinating blend when it comes to John. He's loyal and supportive and so trusting and takes his orders, but at the same time, especially later in the show, he'll haul him around and push back and sometimes casually boss him, maybe because on Sateda, he was the guy. Maybe because his dominating John comes naturally to them. They connect on a physical level, and I could see that sliding easily into a very physical attraction, heightened by their brothers-in-arms thing.

What if Ronon felt it but John didn't, or only did sexually, and Ronon has to negotiate both figuring that out and how that could work in John's world, and in the unusual situation that is their life on Atlantis? Is there uncertainty over whether John can't for reasons or actually doesn't (and I could see John being...accommodating to Ronon's needs, which might complicate things)? How much does Ronon let on, does he keep it to himself, does he pursue John, how does it impact their team life? (Does everybody he meets when he goes home with John in Outcast think they're together anyway?)

And with Ronon for John for Rodney: it'd be interesting to see what an unrequited Ronon does if he sees John suffering from his unrequited thing for Rodney (see Request 1), and what John does, too, if Ronon does do something. Or make Ronon deal with John's thing with Todd, whatever that is.

The extra complication of Courbet! I enjoy Courbet on a physical level, as a bit of an enigma--I was especially taken with the "transformation" scene, and love the idea of Courbet being a chameleon for its own sake (I see Assane as donning disguises more for what he's trying to accomplish), and of his enjoying/getting some frisson out of the other two remaking him into something temporarily.

I think it'd be interesting if Courbet sees whatever is going on between Ben and Assane and is drawn to it or intrigued/moved by it, and in some way wants it or to be a part of it--or even just wants to be in on it but from his outsider POV distance--and they don't know about it or at least don't know that it's like that for him. What if he's into "Ben for Assane" as a thing? Or what if in this version, Ben/Assane is in some way actually happening, whether that's casually or just partially or something unusual or fully, and he's into that? (Or he's into them together but they're not...is that technically Courbet for Assane & Ben? If so, I opt into that too.) Just...I'd be interested in something that's extra complicated in that way.

Or! What if Ben and Courbet start something, whether it's casual or not, whatever amount of sex or not, and when Assane sees that, he discovers that he feels something for it? It was too complicated to formulate into a nomination, but in this case, I also opt in to "Assane for Ben/Courbet, where Ben for Assane is also happening".

In all of this, I'm fine with however you'd like to handle Claire--canon-typical complicated feelings and shifting actual arrangement, straightforward Assane for Claire, active Assane/Claire, something else? It's all good.

As a Luciaphile, I highly approve of Irene's devoted, loyal pash for Lucia. She thinks Lucia is adorable, and so do I. I think it's because Lucia, especially the TV 2014 Lucia, is so charismatic, would be gorgeous in a painting and looks halfway like she is one already, is so very capable at her chosen career of being leader of her little community and keeping them all stimulated, and seems to have some sense of humor about it and about her own and all their antics, even when she's hiding out in a panic behind a wall in her determination to stay on top and maintain the illusion of its being effortless.

I think despite being so very bossy and vain, Lucia is loving and tender about the ones she cares about (maybe about all of them, as their "Queen"), but it's a platonic love. There's possibly just no place in her for "that horrid thing that Freud calls sex" to get in the way, as she calls it, not only in her reassurance to Georgie, but in general (and if you take the books into consideration, which you can! I'm asking for the 2014 TV version because it was my first and favorite--maybe even with beloved and also-devoted Pepino who seemed contented to admire and support her, though I'm open to interpretations).

And Irene! Bohemian, artistic, but at the end of the day, still part of very-middle-aged Tilling, very much interested in their reaction to her--is she actually any more experienced than the rest of them? I could see it going either way. Maybe, in her milieu, she's more curious than had real opportunities. She does seem to live sometimes with her artists' models, and she does seem quite confident in herself, though. So maybe she truly is just that bit more worldly.

There's that conversation in which Irene asks Lucia to take her back to live with her in Riseholme, and Lucia says that she can't, but so gently and caringly. Of course, then Lucia moves to Tilling, so opportunities abound for Irene to admire and adore her "Angel", for Lucia to bask in the adoration (even if sometimes even she'll acknowledge privately that it's a bit excessive/not entirely deserved), and for it to remain just that.

Lacey follows John Grady so steadfastly, away from home, into an unfamiliar country, quietly accepting when John Grady gets promoted for his talent and skill with the horses and his diligence and persistence out of the communal living quarters at the ranch he's led them to work at, watching while John Grady falls unwisely for their boss's daughter (feel free to do whatever you like regarding this ship as a device, but please don't spend a lot of attention on it), getting in bad trouble along with him in part for it, and then (almost certainly my favorite part) has to survive with him in a cutthroat prison of deprivation and whump (I love physical whump, and I love captivity scenarios)!

Sure, eventually he says, enough, I can't anymore; but even then, it's not on bad terms. I love their relationship in general, the loyalty and trust: Lacey loyal, John Grady a natural leader who is (mostly) deserving of it (he's so...good, except? even? when he's making decisions that put them in danger).

In this particular case, I'd like to read about what if part (but only part) of the reason Lacey follows John Grady is because he has feelings of some sort for him--maybe he knows it, maybe they both know it, maybe he or they don't realize it until they're on the road together or even later (maybe while imprisoned?)--maybe it's sudden, maybe it's slow. Pre- or post-canon are also possibilities. For post-canon, if you'd like, you can AU-diverge the end and/or Cities of the Plain for it.

Even before the backstory details that came out in S2, I shipped Royal and Cecilia and Wayne in some kind of combinations and complications.

Cecilia/Royal, with their long-standing partnership that's sometimes fraught with Royal's secrets and secretiveness, his closed-ness and his lost faith in pretty much anything (except maybe the land and the family he's found/made), and maybe, as it turns out, her slight inclination towards sanctimony or just need for convention/orthodoxy. Royal/Wayne--with the fact that Wayne saw Royal come out of the hole, and now he's obsessed with him and with this huge, otherworldly experience he's glimpsed from the edges. And Royal's seeing very clearly how brutal Wayne is. And they're both (all?) so intense, but in such different ways.

Now there's the fact that Cecilia and Wayne were together at one point, while Royal was canonically pining for her. So it wasn't exactly like Cecilia tells it about how it felt like she'd been waiting for Royal "her whole life" when they met at nine years old; except maybe it was, but they were too close for it to turn easily into a romantic/sexual relationship, or maybe she went for Wayne's energy or ambition or the acceptability, or maybe later she has an adult moment of having that recognition or realizing it again.

I'd like to see more about a time or an AU, whether in that youthful past or as later in life adults (canonical or canon-divergent) or in some time-traveling future, when one or more of them is in the throes of feelings that one or more of the others don't feel in return. Their official relationship status can be anything! (Sissy or Patricia can be involved.) Their publicly-expressed feelings can be anything. What they do can be anything. Actual feelings not covered in the tag can be whatever you can think of. For straightforward instance, Wayne for Royal for Cecilia while Cecilia/Wayne; Wayne for Royal while Cecilia/Royal; Royal for Cecilia while Cecilia/Wayne...but also less obvious ones such as Royal for Cecilia while Royal/Wayne? They're all fascinating, if combinatorically hard to list.
